Hi, I'm sponsoring an amazing group of bellydancers (who also do fire) here in Bend on March 31. They are Unmata, from Sacramento, CA. They'll be coming up Friday and mentioned they'd love to do a short (15 minute) fire set someplace....I was thinking MIrror Pond cause I know it's done there...but I'm not sure what the protocol is for having fire in the city, I don't know if other local fire groups would be performing that night and I don't want to step on ANYONE'S toes!!
Fireflyte was suggested as a good contact for info...but I don't have any clue how to go about it...can someone help??

I simply want to see if it's possible to have Unmata "do" fire while they're here, Amy offered and wow, Bellydance and fire?? how can a girl turn that down?? lol.
But..I'm hearing so much about "need permits"...."you know there ARE other fire folk here and you don't wanna step on toes" I'm feeling over my head! What seemed fun at first is quickly sounding like waaaaaay more work than I'm up to on top of organizing the workshop/evening show the next night... -

Mon, March 12, 2007 - 7:06 AMI was one of the first to get fire permits in Bend: it's probably changed since I lived there (since they had no clue what firedancing was & I had to give them a demo to get the permit), but the fire department should be pretty knowledgeable by now with so many firedancers in town. Talk to them & see what the procedure is (and if there are any fees). Good luck!

Mon, March 12, 2007 - 9:22 AMSo what happened was... a trip to portland to spin and stilt for a few days and then there was my birthday over this weekend, in which I was kept very busy but here I am now , in response... I am looking at my datebook for the 31st and I don't see any huge problems with that date. I already hold all the necessary permits for the space at the Mirror Pond Plaza which I would be willing to blow the dust off of for you if... You need to call me and give me the rest of the details in person. I am only slightly familiar with the group Unmata but familiar enough to say that it would be an honor to host them on my permits. Okay if a couple other fire dancers maybe spin before? Or with? (before their performance, obviously)
Sorry for the delay, but, yeah, I would love to set up my permits for you all!

Since I know absolutely NOTHING about fire, how about I put you in direct contact with Amy? You two can figure the details? I'll be publicizing it far and wide .... and I'll be one of the happy faces in the firelight that night, other than those aspects, I'm waaaaay outta my depth!
